Runescape publisher Jagex's publishing wing has picked up an exciting indie game for Jagex Partners. Jagex Partners brand, making Melvor Idle an indie no longer. The idler game, similar to games such as Clicker Heroes or Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, was launched on Steam this year, and displays its inspirations from Jagex's flagship Runescape very proudly.
Melvor Idle is a detailed multi-track idler that is a bid to reinvent "the essential elements from the RuneScape franchise in a manner to be played with ease," says the publisher. It's a pretty high-quality idle game with a variety of things to create and develop, as well with a strong emphasis on no luxury mechanics that require a restart.
Jagex apparently became aware of the project around the beginning of 2020, and a lot of the publisher's staff were a fan of the project after the first Steam launch in October of that year. As it is obvious, the developer is pretty satisfied to have a connection to the creators of one of their favorite games. "Being capable of working together with Jagex for this project directly has been an absolute dream," said Brendan Malcolm, the solo creator of Melvor Idle Studio Games by Malcs.
Malcolm posted a lengthy interview to the game's Reddit community, which made it clear that he will maintain total creative control going forward, along with confirming that the single-purchase model of monetization will not be altered. Jagex stated that they was the only company with "no desire" to change anything related to Melvor Idle Buy RS Gold. The publishing agreement will see Jagex assume the responsibility for marketing, localisation as well as tech support and quality assurance for Melvor Idle.
